That was, as you may already know, the day the eye closed. In fact, it was very specifically July 6th, 2017 when I fell in love with the band. That album, Blurryface, ended up being one of my favourite of 2015 (which, if you read my stuff long enough you'd know that was when I listened to basically everything released by anyone.) The album was great and I liked it, and of course I already liked the band quite a lot when this happened, but I didn't truly fall in love with this band until two years later. The album was great, and when I later found out there was a new one on the way I got quite excited. One that I always heard of but never quite listened to was twenty one pilots. So one night, while still blasting the title track of the album, I decided to look into other artists I knew fans of the band liked. But there was still a lot of time to fill between finally getting it and where I was at. At the time, I had unreasonably high hopes for the album. The album was American Beauty/American Psycho by Fall Out Boy. In December of 2014, I was in the middle of losing my mind waiting for an album from one of my favourite bands. Otherwise, you really wouldn't know why this release means this much to me.
I can't truly review this album without giving context first. I split the context into paragraphs because there are so many words and frankly trying to edit it hurt my eyes so I won't put you through that. Because of this, I'll highlight the part where I actually start talking about the album itself for those who don't care/already know all you need to know. Even though there's a lot that I skipped I still reached about a thousand words before I got to the actual album. Some of it personal, some of it about the album's background. Disclaimer (mostly so my Clique Twitter friends don't murder me): A lot of this review is context.
